Shri Jagadguru Kripalu Ji Maharaj Teachings on the Goal of Human Life
The divine wisdom of Shri Jagadguru Kripalu Ji Maharaj, the fifth original Jagadguru in history, reveals the deepest truth about human existence — the ultimate goal of human life is to attain Divine Love (Prem Bhakti) for Shri Radha Krishna. His teachings go beyond religion, rituals, or philosophy; they awaken the soul to its true purpose — to love God selflessly and to realize the eternal relationship between the soul and the Supreme Divine.
Kripalu Ji Maharaj explained that human life is the rarest and most precious gift given by God. After countless births through 8.4 million species, the soul attains a human form — the only form capable of realizing God. However, this opportunity is fleeting and must be used wisely. He often said, “This human life is like a golden boat that can cross the ocean of Maya, but if you waste it in worldly desires, you lose everything.” According to his divine philosophy, worldly success, wealth, and fame are temporary; the true success of human life lies in attaining God-realization through Bhakti (devotion).
In his pravachans and writings, Jagadguru Kripalu Ji Maharaj revealed that the purpose of every human soul is to experience Anand (divine bliss) — a bliss that is eternal and found only in God. The mind constantly seeks happiness through worldly pleasures, but these pleasures are fleeting and mixed with sorrow. Real, unending happiness can be found only in the divine realm — in the loving remembrance of Shri Radha Krishna. Maharaj Ji taught that by redirecting our desires from the world to God, we can transform our life into a journey toward divine love.
The goal of human life, as explained by Kripalu Ji Maharaj, is to purify the heart through Sadhana Bhakti (devotional practice). This involves meditation on the divine form of Radha Krishna, chanting of the divine names (Naam Jap), listening to spiritual discourses (Satsang), and engaging in selfless service (Seva). Through these practices, the heart becomes free from worldly attachments, and divine love begins to blossom. He beautifully said, “The mind that once wandered in the world should now wander in God. This is the only transformation that leads to liberation.”
At the ashrams established by Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat (JKP) — Prem Mandir Vrindavan, Bhakti Dham Mangarh, and Kirti Mandir Barsana — devotees from all over the world practice these teachings daily. Through Bhakti Sadhana programs, kirtans, and pravachans, they strive to live according to his message.
